Why Kitchener says overhead door

Kitchener was Berlin until the referendums of 1916, and it was a factory town before that. The Berlin Rubber Company opened the town's first rubber factory in 1900, Jacob Kaufman's Kaufman Rubber followed in 1907, and the Dominion Tire plant went up on Strange Street in 1912. J.M. Schneider's meat business dates from 1890, moved to the Courtland Avenue plant in 1925, and ran its last shift there on 26 February 2015. Manufacturing was 20.36% of the labour force in 2012, and the City's own 2020 housing assessment still put it at 17.8% of employment. The Kitchener, Waterloo and Barrie economic region carries 9.8% of Ontario's transportation and warehousing jobs. A city with that many docks and shop bays uses the trade's word for the door on them.

A 2004 house in Doon South has a builder's opener past twenty years old; a 1970s house has whatever went in when the wood door came out.
