Garage door openers in Mississauga

Overnight, the car is off the street

The City allows on-street parking for 5 hours unless a sign says otherwise, none from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. in any season without a permit, and 14 short-term permits per plate in a calendar year. The household car sleeps on the driveway or behind the garage door, and the door rises on the way to work. The 2021 census timed those departures: 14,260 Mississauga workers set off between 5 and 6 a.m., 33,810 between 6 and 7, and 48,570 between 7 and 8. Through the winter that is a door opened before sunrise by someone with a commute ahead.

A door that shuts on its own

LiftMaster's Timer-to-Close shuts the door on its own after a pre-programmed number of minutes, set from a wall control that supports it. On a 6 a.m. departure it settles the question otherwise asked from the on-ramp: did the door come down? A Wi-Fi opener answers the same question in an app and can close the door from there. Say which the household prefers when asking for a quote, because Timer-to-Close is a wall control choice as much as an opener choice.

More drivers than remotes

A Mississauga household averaged 2.9 people in 2021, and the census counted 34,965 households of five or more and 15,945 multigenerational ones, with grandparents and grandchildren under one roof. On those driveways an opener serves every driver, not one car. Count remotes on the quote, and add an outside keypad for anyone who arrives on foot or by bus. Two doors, two generations of remote

A garage with two doors can end up with openers bought years apart, and Chamberlain's own account shows why their remotes do not always swap. For the 12 years to 2005 most household openers ran on 390 MHz. In 2005 Chamberlain and many other makers moved to 315 MHz. Security+ 2.0 arrived in 2010 on 3 frequencies, and a 315 MHz version marked MC in 2022. For a mixed garage Chamberlain's answer is a universal remote built for both; the other answer is retiring the older unit on the same visit.
