Garage door installation in Mississauga
Garage door installation in Mississauga starts with a measuring visit to an opening framed anywhere from the 1950s in Malton to 2001 in Churchill Meadows, then a Garaga, Amarr or Stanley door fitted to it by a crew sent from Unit 14 at 1495 Bonhill Rd. A new opener goes in on the same visit where one is wanted. Send the contact form or email info@protechgarage.ca with the opening's width and height and a photo from inside the garage, looking at the door and the ceiling.
The permit question, in the City's own words
The City of Mississauga's list of projects that require a building permit puts doors in both columns. Replacing an existing door with one of the same size is on the no-permit list. Adding a new door, or increasing the size of an existing one, is on the permit list, and so are a garage and a detached garage. The page adds that zoning regulations apply even when no permit does. So a like-for-like replacement in Meadowvale is ordered and fitted with no paperwork, and a Lorne Park opening being widened for a larger door is a permit application before it is a door order. If the plan is anywhere in between, ask the City on 311 about that address before anything is measured.
What the opening was framed for
Malton's Ridgewood streets were built in the mid-1950s, Marvin Heights in the late 1950s and Westwood in the mid-1960s, and Applewood Acres by the QEW and Dixie came before all of them. Those are single-car openings, and headroom above the opening is the first thing measured, because the track arrangement is ordered before the door is. Erin Mills, from the early 1970s, and Meadowvale, through that decade, are the two-car attached garages, and on a fifty-year-old opening the jambs are checked for rot at the slab before a new door is hung from them. Lisgar, from 1986, and Churchill Meadows, mostly 1997 to 2001, are reaching their first replacement now; the builder's opener is the same age as the door and gets decided at the same visit. Lorne Park's post-war cottage lots were combined into properties of up to 0.4 hectares on streets with no curbs, and an opening there is measured, never assumed, because a house on a lot that size was seldom built to a stock width. The installation page explains what headroom, backroom and side room decide.
Dock doors under new tenants
Toronto Pearson's 2025 overview of the employment lands around it puts industrial vacancy in Mississauga East at 0.3%, against 3.9% for the GTA. Buildings that full change hands by lease rather than by demolition, so a tenant taking a 1980s warehouse east of Dixie Road inherits its dock doors and replaces them on its own schedule. The unit is in that district. On a commercial install the questions are the dock's receiving hours, the forklift clearance inside the opening, and wall space for a jackshaft operator; the commercial doors page covers the choice of door itself.
The season
Doors go in through the winter. Environment Canada's normals give Pearson a January daily high of -1.2 C, snow-free spells come in most winters, and a January install here is a cold morning rather than a cancelled one. The exception is a widened opening, which is framing before it is a door and waits on its permit.
Lead time
How long a Garaga, Amarr or Stanley order takes to reach the branch changes with the model, the colour and the glazing. Ask on the form, with the model from Build Your Door if you have picked one, and the answer comes with the quote.
Booking the measure
Email info@protechgarage.ca or send the contact form with the width and height of the opening, the photo from inside, and the street. The branch is under 20 km by road from Churchill Meadows in the west and Port Credit in the south, so the street sets the window.

What was my opening actually framed for?
The car of its decade, which is why the measure comes before the catalogue. Seven in ten Mississauga homes were built between 1961 and 2000, so most openings here were framed for a door narrower than the one people now want, and the header above it decides whether that can change at all. Send the width and height with a photo of the ceiling above the opening.
We have taken over the unit and the dock doors came with it. Where do we start?
With the duty the doors are on now. A door inherited with a lease was specified for the last tenant traffic, and if your trucks per day are different the spring is wrong before anything is broken. Send the bay count, the door sizes, and how many trucks a day work each one, and the quote comes back against your schedule.
How far ahead should I book the measure?
Far enough for the lead time on the door, because the fitting is a second visit after the order. The old door keeps working in between unless it is the old door that failed, in which case a spring or a cable is a separate repair. Send the form early and ask what the lead time is on the model you have chosen.
