The orchards became streets between 1950 and 1980

Most of Grimsby's orchards were replaced by houses between the 1950s and the 1980s, and the population went from 5,148 in 1961 to 15,770 in 1971. The 2021 Census counts 11,395 occupied dwellings for 28,883 people: 2,320 built in 1960 or before, 2,485 from 1961 to 1980, and 1,135 in the five years to 2021, which is one dwelling in ten and the highest new-build share of any town on this run. Nearly two thirds are single-detached houses. The QEW runs straight through the town with three interchanges, and Casablanca Boulevard is the one for the lakefront. From Bonhill Road it is about 70 km by road, over the Skyway and along the lake past Stoney Creek. Permits in Grimsby

The Town of Grimsby takes building applications through Cloudpermit, an online system, and its residential guide says a permit is needed for an accessory structure larger than 10 square metres, or 15 square metres if it is used only for storage, and for new door or window openings where there were none before. Repair or replace, and then the form

A 1968 door with a stripped opener gear is a repair. The same door with a rotten bottom rail or a rusted-out bottom panel is a replacement, and putting a spring on it first is money spent on a door that is leaving.
